제가 가르치는 방식은 다릅니다
저의 7년간의 한국 거주경험은 한국어와 영어의 차이를 명백하게 인지할 수 있도록 만들어주었습니다. 저는 한국어를 사용해 온 학생들이 잘못 사용하고 있는 영어표현이나 영문 글쓰기 등을 고쳐나갈 수 있도록 학생들이 가장 이해하기 좋은 패턴을 구사하여 가르칠 수 있습니다. 저는 지난 수 년 간 서울과 몬트리올에서 매우 높은 학습 능력을 가진 학생들을 가르치면서 그들이 놀라운 발전을 이루는 것을 보아 왔습니다. 그 뿐만 아니라, 저는 한국 학생들이 한국학교에서 어떻게 배우고 자랐는지, 그리고 캐나다 교육 시스템과 한국시스템이 어떻게 다른 지 정확히 파악하고 있습니다. 제 개인과외를 통하여 학생들은 서양문학과 영어, 그리고 북미와 유럽의 정치적 역사적 배경을 이해하는데 필요한 문학적, 철학적, 그리고 문화적인 기준들을 구분하는 방법을 배울 것입니다. 이 분야들은 한국 학생들이 더 깊은 사고를 하고 다른 캐나다 학생들과 경쟁 할 수 있도록 자신감을 키워주는데 필수적입니다. 이 과외는 각각의 학생들이 다니는 학교 커리큘럼에 맞게 맞춤식으로 진행할 것입니다. 학생들은 학교로부터의 과제물 요구사항 들을 완벽히 해결하도록 도움을 받을 것입니다. 또한, 저는 제 특별한 비전을 통해 과제를 도와주는 것 외에도 학생들이 서양 역사와 문화에 대해 더 높은 수준으로 이해하도록 도와줄 것 입니다. 이러한 수업들은 학생들이 학교성적을 향상시키고 다른 학생들보다 앞서 나갈 수 있는 지적인 능력을 향상시킬 뿐 아니라, 학생들이 하고 있는 모든 분야에서의 이해력을 높이는 데 큰 도움이 되리라고 확신합니다. 학생들은 24시간 동안 언제나 저에게 이메일을 통해 과제에 대한 첨삭을 받거나 조언을 받고, 여러 가지 최근 관련 정보를 얻을 수 있을 것입니다. 또한, 학생들은 필요한 사항들이 있으면 개인적으로도 저를 만날 수 있을 것입니다. 개인 과외 수업은 대학교들과 사립고등학교들이 있는 다운타운 중심지역에 편리하게 위치한 저의 집에서 진행될 것입니다. 저는 16살 이상의 나이의 학생이면서 영어쓰기와 말하기를 잘 이해하고 있는 학생 들을 가르칩니다. 두 시간 미만으로 하는 수업은 학생들의 기억에 오래 남는 수업이 될 수 없다고 판단 하였기에, 수업은 두 시간씩 진행될 것이며, 일주일에 세 번까지 가능합니다. 개인수업은 월요일에서 금요일까지 예약 가능하지만, 제 이메일은 주말뿐만 아니라 방학 기간 모두 열려있습니다. 가격은 두 시간에 $80 입니다. 수업이 가능한 시간들이 제한되어 있기 때문에, nikiology@gmail.com 으로 이 메일을 주시거나 514.315.4813 으로 전화를 주시어 빠른 시일 내에 연락을 취하시면 자세한 설명을 듣거나 개인적으로 만나서 협의할 수 있습니다. 저는 학생들이 성적을 올리고 좋은 결과를 얻도록 도와주는데 자부심을 가지고 있습니다; 학생의 발전은 저에게도 중요하기에 저는 학생들을 더 알아가고 효율적인 대화를 통해 좋은 성과가 있도록 최선을 다할 것입니다.

What does “personal tutoring” really mean?
It means a commitment to an individual students learning needs, abilities, and to their future education goals.
Why is my system so different?
Having lived in South Korea for seven years, and speaking Korean myself, I am very aware of the language differences between Korean and English. I can tailor my speech to patterns that are more easily understandable to Korean-speaking students who need to unlock the English they already know. I have had many years of experience both in Seoul and Montreal teaching students at the highest levels of learning, with consistently impressive levels of improvement and success.
I am aware of what students who grew up in Korea have learned in school and how they are taught there, and the differences between that system and the Canadian system. I teach students to identify the literary, philosophical and other cultural touchstones that are important for an in-depth comprehension of Western literature and the English language, and the historical-political climate of North America and Europe. This is an essential area of learning for Korean students which will enable them to fill in the gaps and assimilate their way of thinking more deeply, giving them a new confidence to compete with their Canadian peers. Focusing on each student’s school program, I tailor my classes directly to the student’s syllabus and homework requirements.
Alongside helping with school assignments, I have a unique ability to help students make these vital connections through ensuring they have an enhanced sense of Western history and literature. This makes everything they do more comprehensible, giving them the intellectual power necessary to raise grades and take their places at the head of the class.
I give students 24-hour access to me by email, so they can send me last-minute assignments to proofread and correct, receive suggestions for homework, and be directed to the optimal sources for accessing the latest, most relevant information.
You can meet with me personally to discuss your needs and expectations; classes are conducted in my well-appointed home which is centrally located in the downtown university and private school area of Montreal.
I accept students 16 or older, who have a very good comprehension of English language and writing, for up to three 2-hour lecture-classes per week. It is my belief that less than two hours per session does not produce lasting results. Individual sessions can be booked Monday through Friday, though email contact will continue through the weekend and over school breaks. The fee is $80 for each two-hour session.
